Sofrimar has continued its strategy of focussed capital investment, constantly aware of the changing needs of the marketplace and the need for stringent quality control standards to be maintained with the best available technology. Currently, Sofrimar has a HACCP approved factory with an area of 4,000² metres, with extensive cooking, chilling, freezing, cold storage, and processing facilities for a diverse range of shellfish and whitefish.

    With the most modern whelk-processing line in the world, we are one of the largest processors in Ireland and the UK, and a key exporter of whelk meat to the Far East.
  • Guaranteed Supply
    Our long-term holding system for live shellfish is the first of its type in Ireland. This sophisticated system holds lobsters and other shellfish in conditions that simulate their natural habitat, and allows us to offer our customers a continuous supply, particularly at times of peak demand.

    We constantly monitor the way we grade and pack our products, in line with the demand from our customers. We have built strong relationships with our customers, thanks to the quality, consistency and timely delivery of our products.

An intelligent approach to harvesting means the fishing of a wide variety of species (including whelk, lobster, brown crab, spider crab and shrimp) is actively encouraged. This diversification ensures that stocks are proactively managed and the inshore fleet is not dependent on one particular species.
